> Time attendance and access control platform under Metrik: QR check-in, leave, shifts, timesheets, work orders and payroll export.

Website: https://metrik.net.tr · Developed / operated by: Internetten Teknoloji San. Tic. Ltd. Şti. · Status: Coming soon

In many workplaces, staff still clock in on a fingerprint reader and timesheets are put together in Excel at the end of the month. In its principle decision No. 2026/921 of 29 April 2026, Türkiye's Personal Data Protection Board found that processing biometric data for attendance tracking breaches the proportionality principle. An employee's explicit consent does not make it lawful either.

GATE processes no fingerprint or face data. Staff scan a QR code shown on a screen at the entrance with their phone. The code changes at short intervals, so a photo of it can't be used somewhere else. Each record stores the time, the source and proof of location. Records are combined with leave and shift data, overtime is calculated within the limits of Labour Law No. 4857, and the timesheet is exported to your payroll software.

GATE will run under metrik.net.tr. Doors, turnstiles, meters and sensors connected to Metrik will also communicate over GATE's MQTT infrastructure. The web modules of the first release are built. The mobile app, visitor management and door control that keeps working when the internet is down come in later phases.

## Key features

- **Check-in without biometrics**: Staff scan a changing QR code at the entrance with their phone. Time and proof of location are added to the record.
- **Leave management**: Annual leave entitlement is calculated from seniority and age. Requests go through multi-level approval.
- **Shifts & timesheets**: Shift plans, overtime, averaging periods and make-up work are calculated within the limits of Law No. 4857.
- **Payroll export**: Timesheets are exported to payroll software. Reports come out as PDF or Excel.
- **Work orders & rounds**: On cleaning and security rounds, a tag is scanned at every checkpoint. A missed checkpoint is reported to the manager.
- **Access control**: Door and turnstile decisions will be made by the device on site, so entry keeps working when the internet is down.

## Modules in the first release

- HR records: staff files, documents, assigned equipment, org chart and delegation
- Leave: entitlement under Law No. 4857, multi-level approval, hourly leave and nursing leave
- Time: QR check-in, shift planning and shift swaps
- Timesheets: overtime, averaging periods, part-time work and make-up work
- Work orders and verified routine rounds
- PDF and Excel reports with scheduled e-mail delivery
- Payroll export and auditor package
- Bulk staff import from Excel or CSV

## Later phases

- iOS and Android app with NFC and Bluetooth check-in
- Visitor pre-registration and time-limited guest QR codes
- Meal menus, refreshment requests and meeting room booking
- Door, turnstile and barrier control with a Raspberry Pi based edge device
- Wiegand and OSDP card readers, Zigbee and Wi-Fi relays
- Building doors and elevator floor permissions in residential complexes

## Data & access

- Data is hosted in Türkiye
- Each customer's data is separated at row level in the database
- The reseller that installs the system cannot see staff personal data
- Support access is time-limited and needs a stated reason, and the customer can see and revoke it
- Employees submit KVKK requests from inside the app
- No biometric data is processed

## How it works

1. **Open an account**: Branches, departments and the staff list are imported from an Excel or CSV file.
2. **Set the rules**: Define shifts, leave types, approval levels and overtime rules.
3. **Set up the entrance**: A screen showing the QR code goes at the entrance, and staff scan it with their phone.
4. **Export the timesheet**: At the end of the month the timesheet is checked and exported to payroll.

## Frequently asked questions

### Can fingerprints be used for attendance tracking?

Under the Personal Data Protection Board's principle decision No. 2026/921, processing biometric data for attendance tracking breaches the proportionality principle. While less intrusive options such as cards, PINs or QR codes exist, fingerprint or face recognition can't be used, and employee consent doesn't change that. We recommend asking your legal adviser about your own situation.

### How does GATE relate to Metrik?

GATE is Metrik's time attendance and access control application and will run under metrik.net.tr. Doors, meters and sensors connected to Metrik will also communicate through GATE's MQTT infrastructure and edge device software.

### Do doors still work if the internet goes down?

With the planned door control, yes. The edge device on site decides using the permission list stored on it. Events are queued on the device and sent to the cloud once the connection is back. Door control arrives in a later phase.

### Can I keep my existing card readers?

The door drivers are being designed for Wiegand and OSDP readers and for Zigbee and Wi-Fi relays. Send our team the make and model of your readers and we'll check compatibility together.

### Can timesheets be exported to payroll software?

Yes. The timesheet is exported as a file for your payroll software. Ask our team whether a ready format exists for the payroll software you use.

### When will GATE be available?

The web modules of the first release are built, and the launch date isn't set yet. You can talk to our team about your attendance or access control project now.
