HealthcareGuest Wi-Fi, clinical network separation, log management and patient communication for hospitals and clinics.
Segregated guest Wi-Fi, Law 5651 logging, central log management, multilingual patient communication and qualified e-signature for hospitals.
Overview
A hospital, medical centre or clinic has very different network needs under one roof. Patients and visitors use guest internet, while physicians and administrative staff work on the corporate network. Medical devices and the hospital information system need isolated infrastructure that stays up.
Health data is special category personal data under KVKK (Law No. 6698) and calls for stricter technical and organisational measures. An institution that gives patients and visitors internet access is also a collective-use provider under Law No. 5651. So how the network is segmented and how records are kept matter as much as connection speed.
We have a separate product for each of these layers: WiPoint for guest Wi-Fi and Law 5651 records, Syslog for system and device logs (in the cloud or on-premises), WiChat for patient communication, Sign for contracts and document signing, and wi.com.tr for network infrastructure.
Industry needs
- 01
Separating guest traffic from clinical systems
Patient and visitor devices on the same network as the HIS, PACS or medical devices are a serious security risk. They need to be separated with VLANs and firewall rules.
- 02
Special category data and KVKK
Where health data is processed, every system access should be logged and the logs stored securely so that unauthorised access can be spotted.
- 03
Guest internet under Law 5651
Internet in waiting areas and patient rooms needs user authentication and access records kept as the regulation requires.
- 04
High-volume, multilingual patient communication
Questions about appointments, directions and opening hours tie up phone lines. Institutions serving health tourists also have to answer in other languages.
- 05
Paper-heavy document processes
When staff, supplier and service contracts go round for wet signatures, signing takes longer and archiving and verification cost more.

Frequently asked questions
How should a hospital separate guest Wi-Fi from the clinical network?
Put the guest network on its own SSID and VLAN, and use firewall rules to block it from the HIS, medical devices and administrative networks. Quota and speed limits on guest traffic keep bandwidth free for clinical systems. Our technical team can help with design and product selection.
Are healthcare institutions covered by Law No. 5651?
Yes, if they offer internet to patients and visitors. A hospital, clinic or medical centre that does so is a collective-use provider and must keep access records as the regulation requires and take measures against access to criminal content. WiPoint handles authentication and timestamped records.
Can Syslog be used without logs leaving our premises?
Yes. Syslog runs as a cloud service or on your own servers, and with an on-premises installation the logs stay inside your infrastructure. We can work out which model fits together with your information security team.
What should we watch out for when using WhatsApp with patients?
Because health data is special category personal data, share only what is necessary, inform patients, and give staff access to conversations only as far as they need it. WiChat keeps all channels in a corporate panel, so conversations don't end up spread across staff members' personal phones. Configure it according to your KVKK policies.
Can documents be signed with an e-signature?
Yes. Under Law No. 5070, a secure electronic signature has the same legal effect as a handwritten one, except in the cases the law lists. In Sign, anyone with a Turkish ID card or qualified certificate can sign documents in multi-signer flows, and for documents covered by health regulations, such as patient consent forms, we recommend reviewing the process with your legal department.
