Hotels & HospitalityGuest Wi-Fi, login verification and Law 5651 records for hotels.
Guest Wi-Fi with PMS and passport login, Law 5651 logging, multilingual WhatsApp messaging and Wi-Fi 6/7 infrastructure for hotels.
Overview
Guests ask for the Wi-Fi password almost as soon as they reach the room, and a bad connection ends up in online reviews. A dropped signal in the room, a slow lobby network or a confusing login page can undo a lot of good work elsewhere in the property.
Any hotel that gives guests internet access is a collective-use provider under Turkish Law No. 5651 and has to keep access records as the regulation requires. Verifying foreign guests and handling KVKK privacy notices and consent are part of the same job.
WiPoint runs at more than 5,000 accommodation facilities today. With Wi-Fi 6/7 access points and backbone equipment from wi.com.tr, guest messaging on WiChat and central log management in Syslog, a boutique hotel and a hotel chain can use the same setup.
Industry needs
- 01
Coverage across the property
Getting the same connection quality in rooms, corridors, pool areas, meeting rooms and gardens means placing access points with thick walls, spread-out grounds and peak-season load in mind.
- 02
Law 5651 and KVKK compliance
Access records have to be stored with their accuracy, integrity and confidentiality protected. Guests must see a privacy notice, and marketing messages need separate permission.
- 03
Verifying foreign guests
For guests without a Turkish ID number, SMS to a foreign number is not always reliable or cheap. Verifying by passport or booking record is quicker.
- 04
Fair bandwidth
A few devices running large downloads can slow the connection for the whole property. You need per-user quota, speed and session rules.
- 05
Multilingual, multichannel communication
Booking and stay questions come in over WhatsApp, Instagram, phone and the website. When the front desk is busy, answering quickly in several languages gets hard.

Frequently asked questions
What does Law No. 5651 require for hotel Wi-Fi?
A hotel that gives guests internet access is a collective-use provider. The law and its implementing regulation require it to keep access records with their accuracy, integrity and confidentiality protected, and to take measures against access to criminal content. WiPoint covers user authentication and timestamped records, but check the current legislation for the full set of obligations.
How do foreign guests connect to the Wi-Fi?
They use methods that don't need a Turkish ID number, such as passport verification, hotel PMS integration, WhatsApp or email approval. You decide which methods to turn on based on your guest profile.
Should the guest network share a network with staff and hotel systems?
No. Keep the guest network apart from staff, POS, PMS and security camera systems with VLANs and firewall rules. The MikroTik and Ubiquiti products on wi.com.tr support this, and our technical team can help at the design stage.
Can we send marketing messages to contact details collected at Wi-Fi login?
Only if you have the required permissions. KVKK (Law No. 6698) requires a privacy notice and explicit consent for marketing, and Law No. 6563 requires approval for commercial electronic messages. WiPoint stores privacy notices and consent records, but aligning message approvals with the Message Management System (İYS) has to be planned separately.
Can hotel groups with several properties manage everything centrally?
Yes. With WiPoint's reseller and branch hierarchy, each property sees its own settings and reports, head office monitors every location, and each branch can have its own captive portal. Syslog can also collect the network logs of all properties centrally.
