Restaurants & CafésGuest Wi-Fi, Law 5651 records and customer messaging for restaurants and cafés.

Time- and quota-limited guest Wi-Fi, Law 5651 logs, WhatsApp and Instagram messaging, e-invoicing and QR menus (coming soon) for cafés and restaurants.

Overview

Wi-Fi is one of the first things customers ask about when they sit down. If the network is open and the password is on the wall, neighbouring businesses and passers-by fill the line. You also have no record of who connected when, and you are not prepared for Law No. 5651.

Paid or free, any café or restaurant that offers Wi-Fi is a collective-use provider. A properly set up hotspot covers that obligation and uses time and quota rules to keep capacity for the people at your tables. With the right permissions in place, it also gives you customers you can stay in touch with.

A single café and a multi-branch chain can both run guest Wi-Fi on WiPoint, customer messages on WiChat and pre-accounting and e-invoicing on Cetvel, with network equipment from wi.com.tr. Our QR menu and QR communication platform, carecode, is coming soon.

Industry needs

  1. 01

    Non-customers using the connection

One shared password gets around fast, and people outside end up using the line.

  2. 02

    Long sessions and bandwidth

Devices that stay connected for hours and large downloads slow the network at peak times, and tables turn over more slowly.

  3. 03

    Law 5651 record-keeping

If there is no record of who connected with which IP address and when, a judicial request can put the business in a difficult spot.

  4. 04

    Permission-based marketing

Sending campaigns to phone numbers collected at Wi-Fi login requires explicit consent under KVKK and commercial electronic message approval under Law No. 6563.

  5. 05

    Scattered order and booking channels

Booking and takeaway questions coming in via WhatsApp, Instagram and phone can be missed or left unanswered at busy times.

Frequently asked questions

We offer free Wi-Fi in our café. Does Law 5651 apply to us?

Yes. Commercial or not, a café or restaurant that gives customers internet access is a collective-use provider and must keep access records as the regulation requires. WiPoint authenticates users, seals records with RFC 3161 timestamps and archives them for 2 years.

Can we limit how long customers use the Wi-Fi?

Yes. In WiPoint you can set per-user session length, daily or monthly quota, speed limits and the number of concurrent sessions. That stops a few devices connected for hours from filling the line.

Can we send SMS campaigns to numbers collected at Wi-Fi login?

Only if you have the required permissions. KVKK (Law No. 6698) calls for a privacy notice and explicit consent for marketing, Law No. 6563 requires approval for commercial electronic messages, and those approvals also have to line up with the Message Management System (İYS). WiPoint stores privacy notices and consent records automatically.

Can a QR menu replace a printed menu?

We recommend keeping the printed menu and price list and using a QR menu alongside them as a channel that is easy to update. Price labelling rules require prices to be easy for customers to see, so check the Ministry of Trade's current rules as well. carecode is coming soon.

How does deployment work for a multi-branch chain?

The MikroTik or Ubiquiti device at each branch connects to the WiPoint core over a WireGuard tunnel, which takes minutes per location. Settings and captive portals are managed centrally, and each branch only sees its own reports.
