Is free municipal Wi-Fi covered by Law 5651?
Yes. A municipality or public body that provides internet to citizens at a given location is a collective-use provider, so it must keep access records and take measures against access to criminal content. WiPoint handles user authentication and timestamped records.
Can public bodies use cloud-based services?
It depends on the kind of data the institution processes and the rules it is subject to. The Information and Communication Security Guide sets different measures depending on how critical the assets are, so we recommend making the decision with your information security unit. How do citizens connect to city Wi-Fi?
Via SMS, WhatsApp, Turkish ID verification or a chip ID card (NFC), depending on the institution's preference, and passport verification can be added for foreign visitors. The captive portal follows your corporate identity and can also carry announcement visuals.
Can we document our fiber infrastructure with WiMap?
Yes. In WiMap you can model fiber ducts, cables and splice points on a map, produce quantities and bills of materials, and export KMZ files that open in tools such as Google Earth. WiMap is in beta, and a GPON design module is on the roadmap.
